I live in the centre of Haarlem, right on the canals, with big windows I absolutely love. What I don’t love? People peeking in while I’m lounging on the sofa - or the bright red tourist van that’s double-parked and blocking my view (right as I’m filming this, of course 🙄).⁣ ⁣ That’s why I use window textile to keep the privacy part of the view out while still letting in the light. It looks much better than plastic and is super easy to install.⁣ ⁣ 𝗣𝗿𝗼 𝘁𝗶𝗽: Leave a bit of space at the bottom. No matter how good your insulation is, Dutch weather guarantees condensation pooling on the sill, and that means mould.⁣

I’ve brought the spring boho vibe back into my home with this beautiful handmade and unique Berber rug from Rozenkelim , and I couldn’t be happier. It adds just the right touch of warmth and character – every time I walk past, it makes my heart sing. ⁣ ⁣ I’ve tried the neutrals here, and while I do love that too, this captures my true spirit.⁣

As an interior design tutor, I guide my students through the theory and process of great design, but here’s what I always remind them: the best spaces are the ones that reflect 𝘺𝘰𝘶. ⁣ ⁣ Following trends or copying what others do might look good in a magazine, but it won’t necessarily make you feel at home. Break the rules. Design is about creating a space that fits your life and tells your story - something timeless, personal, and uniquely yours. That’s where the real magic happens.⁣

A few of my plants didn’t make it - let’s call it natural selection. Time for some new ones. I prefer buying straight from the nursery: better quality, better price. Daluto Palmen en Exoten is still my favourite.⁣ ⁣ According to Wietske, I can’t kill this one even if I try - just what I need. 😉 Wait till the end for a sneak peek at something new!⁣

The Christmas decs for 2024! My son designed the table. Hubby and daughter did the tree. I re-hung everything. They’re happy. I let it go. No it’s not high design. Not even on trend. Or new. But this is us. And that’s what matters. Happy watching!⁣
